The National Radon Proficiency Program (NRPP) is an organization that maintains a network of certified radon professionals, including those specializing in radon measurement, mitigation and as radon laboratories. The NRPP maintains standards that its members adhere to, which you can view by clicking the link below.

AARST Radon Standards.

Currently, the NRPP has over 2,300 members who are expected to operate by the ethical practices and national standards set forth by the organization, as well as abiding by local laws and regulations when applicable.

Depending on the state in question and the individual goals of the inspector, there may be benefits for radon professionals who join either the NRPP or the National Radon Safety Board (NRSB), which is another association you can learn more about by clicking here. You can check individual state requirements by clicking here.

We recommend visiting the NRPP's official website for complete information about the organization, but here is some basic information:

How Do I Become A Member Of The NRPP As A Radon Measurement Provider?

You must:
  • Attend an entry level course, such as our Radon Measurement Course.
  • Pass a NRPP Exam.
  • Submit an application.
  • Upon acceptance, pay a fee.

What Benefits Are There For Joining NRPP?

The EPA no longer operates its National Proficiency Program, so it is more important than ever that homeowners and other consumers have access to radon professionals certified by a respected association. Radon is still a misunderstood threat to public health, although consumer awareness is growing. For this reason, it is important that members of the radon industry be competent, informed and accessible to the public.
By joining NRPP, you will be gaining access to - and become a part of - a respected community of over 2,300 radon professionals.

Once certified, you will also:

  • Be listed on the NRPP searchable database of radon professionals
  • Receive NRPP newsletters
  • Have the opportunity, if you so choose, to participate in local committees and outreach efforts
  • Be informed of educational programs and conferences
  • Be recognized as a professional!
  • Be able to advertise your services with the aid of NRPP certification.
